Ethical Wiki's History
Ethical Wiki's founder, David King, started editing Wikipedia pages for brands around 2008. At the time, he was working for a PR firm in Silicon Valley. He became the firm's Wikipedia "expert."
Although King was an expert among his peers, he was really just learning the ropes.
In 2011, David King quit his job and moved to the east coast with his wife. The only possessions they took was what could fit in four suitcases.
Before the plane even landed, marketing professionals familiar with King's Wikipedia know-how were contacting him for help. Ethical Wiki's first clients were secured over airplane wi-fi.
Ethical Wiki grew mostly through word-of-mouth. People struggling with Wikipedia often asked their professional network for help, and found their way here. By 2015, Ethical Wiki had 30+ active clients.
King also developed his Wikipedia expertise through volunteer projects on Wikipedia. For example, he wrote the History of Public Relations page and gained experience bringing large corporate articles up to the coveted "Good Article" quality ranking.
Ethical Wiki has now served hundreds of companies, non-profits, politicians, and other individuals. Some of the largest companies in the world have put their trust in Ethical Wiki to guide them through this especially challenging area of marketing.
King plans to take the bar in 2019 and expand into legal services with a firm he plans to call King@Law.
